The GReSBAS International Soccer Competition already has a winner

INESC TEC won the GReSBAS International Competition, which put Portugal and Turkey to compete for energy efficiency during February.
The competition was incorporated in the mobile and computer app that was developed within the framework of the project. In an early stage, this competition between Portugal and Turkey were only made in one of INESC TEC’s floors and in four residential buildings in Istanbul (Turkey), since these are the demonstration areas of the project.
How will the international competition worked? Two challenges were launched every week. More energy-efficient behaviors made “players” score goals.

Scoring goals with the lights off? Yes, it is possible

With the end of the FIFA World Cup competition, Turkey and Portugal prepare to score many goals in another field: energy efficiency.
In the scope of the GReSBAS project a game is being developed that promises to involve the users of both demonstrators in a soccer game to promote international energy efficiency competition between two groups of buildings.

The first results from residential demonstration test sites in Istanbul are already known

The pilot application of GReSBAS project in the Turkish demonstrator started in April 2018. About seventy days after, the participants’ achievements were notorious.
GReSBAS is testing its innovative energy saving and management solutions in four houses with twelve users in Istanbul (Turkey).

GReSBAS received the Best Paper Award

GReSBAS won the Best Paper Award in the 6th International Istanbul Smart Grid Congress and Fair through GaMDER (Gamified management of Distributed Energy Resources), a short-term project carried out as part of the GReSBAS project. The Conference was held in Istanbul (Turkey) on 25 and 26 April.
The award winning paper entitled “Identification and Comparison of Power and Energy Management Capabilities of Distributed Energy Resources”, was presented by Mustafa Alparslan Zehir from Turkey and results from the work of ten researchers of GReSBAS project.

GReSBAS presented at PowerTech 2017

From June 18 to June 22, 2017, project GReSBAS will participate in PowerTech 2017. This is the 12th IEEE PES PowerTech Conference – Towards and Beyond Sustainable Energy Systems, which this year will take place in Manchester (United Kingdom).
The Special Session where GReSBAS will participate takes place on June 21, from 9 am to 10:40 am, in rooms 2.219/2.220.
Five representatives of this ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus Project will be doing presentations on the project, whose goal is to enable the active participation of buildings in Demand Response programs through gamified competition between building owners using building automation technologies.

GReSBAS 1st Physical Meeting

In April 2017, the 1st physical meeting of GReSBAS was held in Porto. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the next steps of the project and to clarify the role of each partner in the project.
During the meeting, all work package leaders presented the results and accomplishments and the activities planned for the next months of the project.

GReSBAS participates in kick-off of ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus Family of Projects

Between June 15 and 17, 2016, GReSBAS participated in the kick-off event for the projects awarded in the 1st 2015 ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus (SG+) call in Split, Croatia.
Besides project GReSBAS, other 18 projects were represented and introduced at this meeting.
In the first day, the project’s representatives received communication coaching from the support team and an evaluation workshop was organised for the ERA-Net Smart Grids Plus funding agencies.
